Songwriter, lyric writer and singer Gregory Dessypris, was born in Athens-Greece, during the “Golden Era” of the 60s, and he grew up in the famous Fokionos Negri area, where most of the Greek Music Bands where based, attributing there, his first music influence…
He had his first guitar lessons, at the age of 8, and later on, he created his first garage bands, performing shows, at “Moussika Proina”, in locations such as “Kypselaki Theatre”, “The Green Park”, and other popular clubs of those days…
(Besides music, he starts flying for OLYMPIC AIRWAYS, from 1978 up to 1998)
Early 1987, he formed, the “LIQUEUR BAND”, performing at “OMNI LIVE”, and “BO CLUB”, until 1992…
When the 1992 came, along with his companion Elias Skrimizeas, creating the “TAKSIDIOTES (TRAVELERS) BAND”, participating in the “THESSALONIKA¢s SONG CONTEST”, with two of their songs, the “S EFXARISTO” and the “SE PARALLILOUS DROMOUS
(Antony Remmos, Eleni Tsaligopoulou, Dimitri Kokkotas, Eleni Karousaki, were some of the other competitors…)
The response of their appearance was amazing, leading them to their first record deal, (1993), with “MBI”, releasing their first record, called, “TELIKOS PROORISMOS”
During an interview with reporter Dimitri Kastanas, for the NGTV, at New York, the AEGIAN AUDIO and VIDEO s CEO George Tsapelas called Gregory, and proposed the release of the record for the US market...And so is done.
May of 1998, he is going solo, making the music, of the album “THA PARO TO TRENO”, released by “RIA MUSIC/MINOS”, with Stamatis Mesimeris lyrics, and arranged by mr. Christofer Krokidis…
You can say that the record is somehow, Greek "Southern Rock" type...
Some of the most famous musicians have played with him, making the 11 songs sound incredibly… The record sold out within months…
During the next years, he meets in his musical paths, with MAKIS TSIGANDES, and forming the “AGNOSTON LOIPON STOIXEION” rock band, presenting to the public his songs, along with LAVRENDIS MAHAIRITSAS and VASSILIS PAPAKONSTANDINOU¢s, plus, ROLLING STONES , BON JOVI¢S, and other famous international artists ones…
But the time has come to release new material…
Even if Gregory is not going public if he has nothing to say, 7 years is a long period for somebody who creates…
So, finally, June 2005, along with arranger Christoforos Krokidis, and lyric writer Kostas Kolovos, Greg, is undersigning all songs of the "Apla kae Mberdemena" (Simple and yet Complicated) released by "Polymusic" / "Universal Music" (and distribution by MINOS-EMI). Greg now is living in New Smyrna-Athens, is divorced, and is having two sons, Panos/Anthony, 17 and Nickolas 16, who is following his music paths.
In our days, (2008) Gregory is working on a new material, with lyricist Costas Kolovos once again and it should be ready next summer
