θά ῾θέλᾳ - λέει- ν᾿ ἀφήσω στὸν καθένα σας αὐτὸ τὸ βλέμμα
τοῦ ἤρεμου θαυμασμοῦ μπροστὰ στὸ λιόγερμα. Θά ῾θέλᾳ ἀκόμη
νὰ σᾶς ἀφήσω τὸ περίλυπο ἄκουσμα
τῆς ἔρημης φωνῆς τοῦ ἰχθυοπώλη στὰ πρωινὰ τοῦ Ἰουλίου
καὶ τὸ βόμβο τῆς μέλισσας μέσα σ᾿ ἕνα τριαντάφυλλο
ἢ τὸ ἄηχο «ἄχ» μιᾶς λευκῆς πεταλούδας πλάι στὸ μὼβ λουλούδι.
Περισσότερο ἀπ᾿ ὅλα θά ῾θελᾳ νὰ σᾶς ἀφήσω τὸν τρόπο
τῆς ἀλλαγῆς τῶν χρωμάτων πρὸς τὸ ἀσῆμι καὶ τὸ ρόδινο
ὅταν ἡ πόρτα κλείνει καὶ σκοτεινιάζουν τὰ δωμάτια
κι ὡστόσο οἱ καθρέφτες διατηροῦν ἀνέπαφη
τὴν εἰκόνα τῆς θάλασσας, γι᾿ αὐτὸ γαλανίζουν τὰ σεντόνια
στὸ μεγάλο γαμήλιο κρεβάτι τῶν νεκρῶν. Θά ῾θελα ἀλλὰ
τούτη τὴν ὥρα μὲ πρόλαβε ὁ Ἀόρατος,
ὁ Πανταχοῦ καὶ Πάντοτε Παρών, μοῦ ῾σβησε τὸ φανάρι
καὶ πιὰ δὲ βλέπω οὔτε νὰ δείξω τίποτα κι οὔτε νὰ περπατήσω.
