Μια μέρα, ένας σοφός Ινδιάνος έκανε την παρακάτω ερώτηση στους μαθητές του:

-”Γιατί οι άνθρωποι ουρλιάζουν όταν εξοργίζονται;”
-”Γιατί χάνουν την ηρεμία τους” απάντησε ο ένας.
-”Μα γιατί πρέπει να ξεφωνίζουν παρότι ο άλλος βρίσκεται δίπλα τους;” ξαναρωτά ο σοφός.
-”Ξεφωνίζουμε, όταν θέλουμε να μας ακούσει ο άλλος” είπε ένας άλλος μαθητής
Και ο δάσκαλος επανήλθε στην ερώτηση: “Μα τότε δεν είναι δυνατόν να του μιλήσει με χαμηλή φωνή;

Διάφορες απαντήσεις δόθηκαν αλλά.. καμμιά δεν ικανοποίησε τον δάσκαλο..
“Ξέρετε γιατί ουρλιάζουμε κυριολεκτικά όταν είμαστε θυμωμένοι;
Γιατί όταν θυμώνουν δυό άνθρωποι, οι καρδιές τους απομακρύνονται πολύ.. και για να μπορέσει ο ένας να ακούσει τον άλλο θα πρέπει να φωνάξει δυνατά, για να καλύψει την απόσταση..
Όσο πιο οργισμένοι είναι, τόσο πιό δυνατά θα πρέπει να φωνάξουν για ν’ακουστούν.
Ενώ αντίθετα τι συμβαίνει όταν είναι ερωτευμένοι;
Δεν έχουν ανάγκη να ξεφωνήσουν, κάθε άλλο, μιλούν σιγανά και τρυφερά..
Γιατί; Επειδή οι καρδιές τους είναι πολύ πολύ κοντά. Η απόσταση μεταξύ τους είναι ελάχιστη. Μερικές φορές είναι τόσο κοντά που δεν χρειάζεται ούτε καν να μιλήσουν… παρά μονάχα ψιθυρίζουν.
Και όταν η αγάπη τους είναι πολύ δυνατή δεν είναι αναγκαίο ούτε καν να μιλήσουν, τους αρκεί να κοιταχθούν. Έτσι συμβαίνει όταν δυό άνθρωποι που αγαπιούνται πλησιάζουν ο ένας προς τον άλλον.
Στο τέλος ο σοφός είπε συμπερασματικά:
“Οταν συζητάτε μην αφήνετε τις καρδιές σας να απομακρυνθούν, μην λέτε λόγια που σαν απομακραίνουν, γιατί θα φτάσει μια μέρα που η απόσταση θα γίνει τόσο μεγάλη που δεν θα βρίσκουν πιά τα λόγια σας το δρόμο του γυρισμού”
