Γιατί όταν βρέχει δεν μπορώ να σε κοιτάζω
Κάποιος να μου πει
Γιατί βλέπω σκιές
Γιατί τα μάτια μου δακρύζουν μα δεν κλαίνε
Αν οι ποιήτριες της Γης είναι νεκρές
Και αν οι λέξεις που ζωγράφισαν τις καίνε
Δεν είναι ανάγκη να μου πεις πως μ αγαπάς
Δεν είναι ανάγκη να μου δείξεις πως σε χάνω
Ήθελα μόνο να σε κάνω να γελάς
Μα εσύ δεν άντεξες να δώσεις παραπάνω
Μπορεί οι ποιήτριες της Γης να ναι νεκρές
Μπορεί και να φυγαν σε κάποια κρύα Δύση
Μπορεί να ανήκουν σε φαντάσματα του χθες
Κι ίσως κανείς να μη τις έχει συναντήσει

Γιατί η στιγμή περνά
Πριν σ αγαπήσω θα χω ήδη πια γεράσει
Θα χω ριτίδες κάτασπρα μαλλιά
Και κάτι στίχους που θα χουν ξεθωριάσει

Είναι καλό το φεγγάρι, - δε θα φαίνεται
που άσπρισαν τα μαλλιά μου. Το φεγγάρι

Όταν έχει φεγγάρι, μεγαλώνουν οι σκιές μες στο σπίτι,
αόρατα χέρια τραβούν τις κουρτίνες,
ένα δάχτυλο αχνό γράφει στη σκόνη του πιάνου
λησμονημένα λόγια - δε θέλω να τ' ακούσω.
